Two Glaring Signs That Your Car Requires Air Conditioning Servicing

Despite how commonplace AC systems are in vehicles nowadays, there was a point in time when this was a feature exclusively present in luxury cars. But since this was such a long time ago, not many motorists realise what an indulgence their AC is and subsequently tend to take it for granted. Yet, for this system to stay functional and withstand the demands of the summer months, you need to ensure that you accord it the professional maintenance it needs.

Otherwise, you will begin to experience an array of issues once the temperatures rise and you need the interior of your vehicle cool whenever you drive it. Below are just two glaring signs that you require a car air conditioning service.

The airflow is becoming progressively weak

Without adequate airflow, there is not much that your auto AC is doing to keep your car cool. Thus, it is best to have this problem attended to sooner rather than later, as it will only get worse the longer it is left unchecked. Poor airflow is a common issue that you will contend with, as it is caused by a myriad of underlying reasons. For starters, neglecting car air conditioning service could have left room for mould to breed inside the evaporator core, and this will impede the flow of cool air through the vents.

Conversely, the AC's blower hose may have come loose with time so there isn't much air being directed into the blower unit. A broken ventilation fan is another cause of poor airflow, as this component functions to circulate cool air. Your auto mechanic will be best placed to carry out a comprehensive investigation to identify the reason for poor airflow and remedy it immediately.

The air is no longer as cool as it was before

You may have sufficient airflow from your car's air conditioning, but if the air is warmer than usual, the vehicle will remain uncomfortably hot. And while this issue may be easy to ignore when the outside temperatures are mildly warm, ignoring the need for repair can translate into the need for auto AC replacement. Typically, warm air will be emitted if the AC has developed a Freon leak due to varying causes such as a defunct seal, a damaged O-ring or a broken hose.

Another reason why this issue will come about is when major parts malfunction, such as the blower motor or the compressor. Undiscovered blockages in the refrigerant's charging hose or the expansion valve will hinder the flow of refrigerant and lead to warm air being blown through the AC vents. If this issue is not addressed and the refrigerant is left to leak inside the system, it increases the likelihood of moisture collecting in the AC, and this will lead to extensive damage.
